Acupressure techniques below can enhance lung functioning, and smooth the nasal passages, which are beneficial to sharpen the sense of smell and promote nasal clearance.
- Use the middle fingertip to knead at the middle of eyebrows, yin tang (Ex-HN 3), about 30 times;
- Use the middle fingertips to knead at the sides of the nose, ying xiang (Li 20), about 30 times;
- Rub the middle and index fingertips together to warm them first, and then rub along the nasal grooves, to and fro about 30 times;
- Thumb-knead at feng chi (Gb 20, depression below the occipital bone), bottom of the skull, about 30 times;
- Use the middle fingertip to knead at fei shu (Bl 13, beside the 3rd thoracic vertebra), about 30 times each side;
- Make one hand into a half fist and clap the back of the shoulder on the opposite side, 10 times each side;
- Nip and grasp at he gu (Li 4, middle of palm web between thumb and index finger), about 30 times on each hand.
When kneading or pressing on particular points, there should be enough force to bring about numbness or soreness feeling, while rubbing or wiping should create a feeling of warmth.
