Acupressure techniques below can enhance the digestion and excretion processes of stomach and intestines, and helps relieve digestive symptoms like abdominal distention, abdominal pain, gastric pain, indigestion, belching, and constipation.
- Use the fingertips to knead at the center of upper abdomen, zhong wan (Rn 12), about 30 times. Then rub the upper abdomen with the palm, first in a clockwise and then in a counterclockwise direction, about 30 times in each direction;
- Use the fingertips to press at the lower end of chest bone, and rub along the midline of abdomen to the belly button, up and down for about 30 times;
- Use the palm edge of both hands to press on the sides of belly button, and rub up and down over the lower abdomen, about 30 times;
- Clench the fists, beat on the sides of the lower back, next to thoracic spine, pi shu & wei shu (Bl 20, Bl 21), about 30 times;
- Use the thumb to knead at nei guan (Pc 6, 2-finger-breadth above the middle of the wrist line), 30 times each side;
- Use the thumbs to knead zu san li (St 36, 1-finger-breadth below the anterior crest of the tibia), 30 times on each leg.
When kneading or pressing on particular points, there should be enough force to bring about numbness or soreness, while rubbing or wiping should create a feeling of warmth.
