Massage techniques that focus on the ear regions help smooth the ear canals, and are also beneficial to conditions like ear ringing, hearing weakness and ear infections.
- Knead around the ears: use the index or middle fingers to rub around the ears, and knead firmly on the acupoints er men (Sj 21), ting gong (Si 19), ting hui (Gb 2), yi feng (Sj 17), for about 40 times at each point.
- Pinch the auricles: use the thumbs and index fingers to hold the auricles, pinch along the edges softly, up and down for about 20〜30 times to get them warm.
- Tap the ear back: cover the ears with hands, flick the index fingers with the middle fingers to let them hit the skull and make a rumbling sound; do this 20 times.
- Rub the ear front: use the thumbs or index fingers to press on the ear front, rub forcefully up and down for 30 times or until a feeling of warmth is achieved.
