Massage techniques that focus on the facial and head regions help invigorate mental functions, clam down and sharpen the mind. They are also beneficial to conditions like headaches, dizziness, insomnia, forgetfulness, nervous breakdown and facial paralysis.
- Wipe the forehead: Make the fingers in curl position, press the middle knuckles of index fingers in the center of forehead, then wipe toward the temples, for about 40 times.
- Wipe the temple regions: press the thumbs firmly on the temple point (Ex-HN5), wipe back and forth in the area, for about 30 times. This usually creates a feeling of soreness.
- Press-knead the back of head: firmly press the thumb on the depressions below the occipital bone (Gb 20), and knead in circular manner for 10 times; follow by knead on the eminence of occipital bone (Gb 19) for about 30 time. This usually creates a feeling of soreness.
- Pat the crown: sit still with eyes looking forward and teeth clenched, face the palm over the crown of head, and pat evenly on the area for about 10 times.
- Rub the face: rub the hands until there is a warm feeling in the palms, then cover firmly them on the forehead, rub forcefully down to the chin, and then rub back along the chin, toward the ears and the temples, and back to the forehead again. Repeat the steps for 20〜30 times until the face feels warm.
