Massage to Relieve Diabetes
Chinese massage focuses on fortifying organs and enhancing the triple burner, so as to resume the transformation and transportation of nutrients.
Below is the usual massage protocol for diabetic individuals:
- Use middle fingertip to knead at the midpoint between the two nipples (Rn 17), 50 times;
- Use middle fingertip to knead at the center of upper abdomen (Rn 12), 50 times;
- Use middle fingertip to knead at the center of the lower abdomen (Rn 4), 50 times;
- Cross the hands and place on the upper abdomen, rub in clockwise and then counterclockwise motions over the area, 30 times;
- Cross the hands and place on the navel, rub in clockwise and then counterclockwise motions over the area, 30 times;
- Grasp the shoulder muscles that near the root of neck (Bl 13), do this on alternative side for 30 times;
- Clench fists and use the knuckles to beat on the lumber spine first, and then knead firmly along the sides of the lumbar spine, 30 times for each;
- Clench fists and beat the kidney region for 30 times first, and then knead with the knuckles, 30 times;
- Use the thumb to knead at shou san li (Li 10, the muscular crest of forearm with elbow flexed), 30 times on each arm;
- Use the thumb to knead at 2-finger-breadth above the midline of wrist (Pc 6), 30 times each side;
- Use the thumb to knead at 1-finger-breadth below the anterior crest of each tibia (St 36), 30 times;
- Use the thumb to knead at 3-finger-breadth above the inner malleolus of each ankle (Sp 6), 30 times.
Increased thirst, mouth dryness, and frequent urination
- Use fingertips to knead at the root of neck (Du 14), 30 times;
- Use the thumb to knead at the fold of the elbow while flexed (Lu 5), 30 times on each arm.
Increased thirst, easy to feel hunger, unexplained weight loss and constipation
- Use fingertips to knead on the sides of lower chest backbone (Bl 18, 9th thoracic vertebra level), 30 times;
- Cross the hands and place on the lower abdomen, rub in clockwise motions over the area, 30 times;
- Keep the toes extend straight or lift the heel, and knead at the lower end of contracted calf muscles (Bl 57), 30 times on each leg;
- Knead at tai chong (Lr 3, depression between big toe and second toe on the dorsum of the foot), 30 times each foot;
- Knead at nei ting (St 44, depression between the second and third toes on the dorsum of the foot), 30 times on each foot.
