Acupressure techniques below can invigorate
kidney, replenish
essence and nourish yin, which are helpful for conditions like back soreness, knee weakness, limb coldness, night sweating, insomnia and sexual dysfunction as well as general weakness due to ageing.
- Use the hands to cover on the lumbar region, rub up and down for about 30 times;
- Clench the fists, use the knuckles to press on acupoints shen shu & zhi shi (Bl 23, Bl 52, on the sides of 2nd lumbar vertebra level), knead forcefully for about 40 times;
- Clench the fists and beat along the lumbar spine, up and down for about 10 times;
- Use the middle finger tip to strike on the midline of lower abdomen, especially at the acupoints guan yuan (Rn 4, 3 inches below belly button), zhong ji (Rn 3, 4 inches below belly button), for about 40 times each;
- Cross the hands and press on the lower abdomen, rub in circular motion for about 30 times;
- 6.Use the thumbs to press on acupoint zu san li (St 36, 1-finger-breadth below the anterior crest of the tibia), and knead 30 times;
- Use the thumb to press on acupoint san yin jiao (Sp 6, 3-finger-breadth above the inner malleolus of ankle), and knead for 30 times each leg.
When kneading or pressing on particular points, there should be enough force to bring about numbness or soreness, while rubbing or wiping should create a feeling of warmth.
