Acupressure techniques below can refresh and sharpen the mind, which are helpful for conditions like
insomnia, mental fatigue, absent-mindedness, and drowsiness.
- Sit still with eyes looking forward and teeth clenched, use the palm to pat evenly over the crown, about 20 times;
Use the thumbs to press at the inner sides of eyebrows (Bl 2) and knead for 30 times;
- Bend the index fingers, use the middle knuckles of index fingers to press firmly at the middle forehead, then wipe towards the temples, repeat for 30 times;
- Use the fingertips to press at the upper corners of forehead (St 8, just inside the hairline), knead for 30 times;
- Use the thumbs to press at the two sides of skull base (Gb 20), and knead for 30 times;
- Use the thumbs to press at the middle depression of skull base (Du 16), and knead for 30 times;
- Use the thumb to press firmly on the inner end of wrist line (Ht 7), and knead for 30 times each hand;
- Use the thumb to press on 3-finger-breadth above the inner malleolus of ankle (Sp 6), and knead for 30 times each leg;
- Use the palm edge to rub the center of the soles (Kl1), 30 times each foot.
When kneading or pressing on particular points, there should be enough force to bring about numbness or soreness, while rubbing or wiping should create a feeling of warmth.
